Professional Standards & Ethical Practice
The Ghana Institution of Surveyors upholds a framework of rules, regulations, and ethical standards that guide the conduct of all surveying professionals across its three divisions. Members are expected to adhere to these standards in every aspect of their practice.
Code of Ethics
The GhIS Code of Ethics sets out the fundamental principles that every member must observe. It covers integrity, impartiality, confidentiality, and professional competence — ensuring that surveyors serve the public interest and maintain the trust placed in the profession.
Valuation & Estate Survey (VES)
Rules and Regulations specific to the Valuation & Estate Survey Division, covering standards for property valuation, estate management, and related professional services.
Land Survey (LS)
Rules and Regulations for the Land Survey Division, addressing cadastral surveying, geodetic standards, mapping practices, and boundary determination.
Why Regulations Matter
Regulations ensure consistency, reliability, and accountability across the surveying profession. They protect clients, the public, and the reputation of the Institution. All practising surveyors and registered firms are expected to comply with the relevant divisional rules and the overarching Code of Ethics.
